An AI-powered treatment program that brings an innovative approach to dementia care
The startup NewDays has developed an AI-based companion, called Sunny, to advance brain health and deliver an innovative approach to care. NewDays is a clinically-proven program for mild cognitive impairment or dementia that combines clinician guidance and AI-guided brain training at home. Peer-reviewed clinical data from NewDays patients after three to five months of treatment show 73% improved cognitive function, 50% improved mental health, and dementia patients delayed symptom progression by over a year. NewDays is using AI to improve quality of life and keep people independent longer.

Using AI to help doctors detect pancreatic cancer earlier, when treatment may be more effective
Mayo Clinic researchers developed an AI model that can help specialists identify early signs of pancreatic cancer on routine abdominal CT scans up to three years before clinical diagnosis. In a landmark validation study, the model analyzed nearly 2,000 CT scans, including scans that had originally been interpreted as normal, and identified 73% of prediagnostic cancers at a median of about 16 months before diagnosis. The tool is designed to support clinicians by flagging subtle changes in tissue texture and structure that may indicate elevated risk — helping doctors find disease earlier, when curative treatment may still be possible.

AI tool helps VA process community care documentation faster
When veterans receive care from providers in their communities, important medical documents must be added to their VA health records quickly so care teams have the information they need. The Veterans Health Administration’s AI-Driven eFax Fix (AIEFF) is a new technology helping make that process faster and more accurate for veterans who seek care at VHA facilities. The automated system uses AI to save staff time, reduce stress, and help ensure veterans’ records are updated quickly and accurately. By automating a time-consuming administrative process, the new AI-enabled technology allows VA staff to spend less time sorting documents and more time supporting veteran care.
